Distance Learning/Online Course Registration & Refund Policy Agreement

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING A COURSE REGISTRATION:

The following policies apply to all course registrations and include and incorporate the Terms & Conditions, Distance Learning Online Instruction Policy agreement and Class Time Policy agreement.  All of the Making Math Real distance learning (DL) courses are taught online via Zoom.  Participants must register themselves and only debit/credit card payments are accepted (no checks or purchase orders).  All course registrations are non-transferable once a course has been attended and participants may not split attendance between two separate course offerings. The Making Math Real Institute DOES NOT PROVIDE MAKE-UPS for your missing any amount of course content/class time.

COURSE MATERIALS ARE SHIPPED:  All course readers and materials binders are shipped to registered participants approximately 2-3 weeks before a course begins, via USPS Priority Mail within the USA (International shipping may require an additional fee).  Be sure to register early to ensure your course materials arrive prior to the 1st day of class (International shipping may require more time).  (MMR is not responsible for delayed, lost or stolen packages shipped via USPS and replacement materials are subject to additional fees.)  MMR cannot accommodate Express shipping or pick-ups of course materials with any last-minute registrations.

SPACE IS LIMITED:  Due to space limitations imposed by the distance learning format, online courses typically sell out quickly once registration opens.  Registration ends at 5pm the evening before the 1st day of every class, or once a course has reached maximum capacity – no exceptions. “Walk-ins” are not accepted for distance learning / online course offerings, and any attempted online registration received after 5pm the evening before the 1st day of class will not be accepted and will be subject to a $50 refund processing fee.

CANCELLATIONS, TRANSFERS, REFUNDS:  Course cancellations, refunds and transfer requests by enrolled participants must be received in writing via email at least 10 business days BEFORE each scheduled course starting date and are subject to the following fees and policies:

Course cancellation and refund requests that are honored will incur a $100 refund processing fee. Course cancellation requests received less than 10 business days prior to a class will NOT be refunded. There are absolutely no refunds once a course has begun or has been attended.

• Transfer requests must also be submitted in writing at least 10 business days prior to the start of the course and will incur a $30 transfer processing fee. Once a course has been transferred, cancellations are not accepted, and there are no refunds.  Transfer requests are limited to 1 per course.

• Materials Fee:  If a course binder has been shipped prior to a cancellation or transfer request, the binder must be returned to MMR at the expense of the participant within 5 days or the refund may be delayed and an additional materials fee may apply.

The Making Math Real Institute (MMRI) strives to provide the course content to its registered participants according to the confirmed class schedule, however, the MMRI shall not be responsible for any failure or delay in the performance of its course offering obligations arising out of or caused, directly or indirectly, by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to Acts of God / force majeure, naturally occurring disasters such as floods, fire, unavoidable events and/or accidents such as but not limited to instructor injury, illness, or hospitalization, casualty, lockout, strike, labor conditions, power supply outage/shut down, infectious disease epidemic or pandemic, war or threat of war, terrorism or threat of terrorism, civil disturbance, government action, inaction or reaction, or by any local, state or national emergency, or other unforeseen and unavoidable events, and MMRI shall not be deemed liable or responsible for any failure or delay in the performance of a course.

The MMRI will take reasonable steps to minimize course schedule interruptions but shall have no liability with respect thereto, and is not responsible for course rescheduling / refunding and any subsequent issues or unforeseen results that may occur for participants from such an “Act of God” interruption. Making Math Real is not responsible for any missed instruction for any participant due to technical difficulties, power outages, computer and/or internet connection issues / failures during distance learning instruction whether such issues arise from the host’s connection, the instructor’s connection, or any participant’s connection. MMRI is not responsible or liable for any participant who may be unable to attend a course due to the above Act of God conditions. The course participant shall be responsible for all costs incurred in connection with course attendance or access to any course, and the MMRI shall not be deemed liable for any course registration refunds, travel expenses or class rescheduling. Making Math Real is not responsible for any subsequent issues or unforeseen results that may occur for participants from such an interruption. Although the MMRI will make every reasonable effort to offer alternative course instruction delivery, postpone and / or reschedule the course time affected by such an event, it remains the sole discretion of the Institute, and Making Math Real cannot guarantee the ability or availability to do so.
