About Making Math Real Courses Print E-mail

ImageIt's about the TEACHING, not the program. You, the educator, are the key to the student’s success.

Making Math Real is a professional development institute for parents and educators providing up to 320 hours of seminar covering multisensory structured K-12 content in mathematics.  Our institute is presented in association with both University of California Berkeley and Santa Cruz Extensions, providing academic units for all courses.  Since the Making Math Real multisensory structured methodologies are so extremely intensive, systematic, and original, we are referred to as “Math Slingerland” and “Math O-G.”  Therefore, our Institute requires a two-day “Making Math Real: Overview” course to help parents and educators understand the research basis and pedagogical foundations of the methods to maximize the educational benefit and to ensure their complete understanding of this new structure, and not to merely return to status quo practices.  In addition, the Overview course is designed for all parents and teachers K-12, and would be valuable for all teachers, both public and non-public.

The Making Math Real professional development course series for parents and educators provides simplified, comprehensive foundations for a practical, systematic, and multisensory, structured program in basic mathematics that is aligned with the California State Standards.  Making Math Real is a developmental program wherein each new development comes directly from the content that precedes it.  Course participants learn to break math down to its concrete, core elements using hands-on manipulatives-based activities demonstrated by the instructor.  Innovative course materials are included in the registration fee of every offering.

Making Math Real courses are especially designed for ALL of the following:
    • Parents
    • Educational Therapists and Learning Specialists
    • Special Educators
    • Elementary and Secondary Classroom Teachers
    • College and University Professors
    • Tutors and Instructional Assistants
